Glimmer Book - Med - Junk Journal - Watercolor Box Cover
Have you heard of Junk Journals? They’re an up-cycled journal, often made of found materials, layered with a variety of papers, intended for your journaling and scrapbooking use.
If you’re like me, then you collect those little pieces of paper from packages, stickers, pretty little flowers, labels, cut out pictures from books and magazines, intending to put them somewhere in a collection of little happy and special things, but may not have a spot to put just those things. These books are perfect to cultivate gratitude and appreciation for the smallest of things, even if it’s just for thoughts, quotes, scriptures, or affirmations!
I have an affinity for tiny things—and these little journals were made to keep just that. I don’t like the phrase “junk journal,” because I find a lot of treasure in what some people call “junk".” After learning the term, “glimmers”—little things that are grounding, settling, that spark that return to reality (the opposite of a trigger)—I decided to call these “Glimmer Books.”
There’s not really a way to say what kind of paper these books have. They’re a mix of card stock, mixed media, tissue, vellum, textured paper, cold press watercolor, kraft paper, black paper, with varying thicknesses to bear different media. Some of the papers have been coffee-dyed, tea-dyed, ink stained, or painted. Because these are up cycled books, there are different sizes of paper, little pockets, and spots that fold out for longer writing.
The covers are made from recycled cardboard or card stock and the signatures are attached either in the style of a traveler’s notebook with a single band, a 3-hole pamphlet stitch (zine stitch), coptic stitch, or french link stitch. Each book also has a pocket on the insides of the front and the back cover (if not pictured, it means that I added them after!).
**Each glimmer book will come with additional ephemera unless otherwise indicated.
Size: Please see photos for measurements
Specifications: 3 signatures; 60 pages; 3-hole pamphlet stitch and semi-wide spine to allow space for additional goodies.
